You might have noticed our new in-person offerings this year. They were a culmination to all the dreams and desires I harboured for my sustainable farm ever since the day I laid eyes on this barren piece of land near Chennai. The gatherings, the picnics, the storytelling and many many things that were somewhere brewing in my figment of imagination finally came into fruition quite unassumingly, without much fanfare! One fine day, just like that, you feel ready to let that dream dance in front of your eyes.
I was a little taken aback myself by the sudden inspiration, a sort of pull that seemed unyielding, something that excited me no end and made me daydream about the possibilities! As for any dream one nurtures, there is always a lot more ground work that needs tending to before it could be birthed. And this was no less. But before I ramble on about the new and exciting, allow my digression into the old and unknown for a bit…
My blogging journey began ten years ago, about 3 years before my farm escapade. I called my first one Life is Beautiful, and then it was rechristened as Lazy Summer Diaries for a while before it took on this current avatar. It was the time when my heart started yearning to fill the pockets of my life and home with nature and nourishment, the kind that only organic living and slow, rural connection can provide.
I felt called to break away from the norm, to tend to the land, to learn the skills that were fast fading. This involved getting my hands dirty and my soul alive with wonder and creativity. This path took me on an adventure with many highs but also moments of defeat and frustration, but the blessings and gifts of the land outweigh anything I had ever experienced.
In learning about nature and its ways, what I didn’t realize was that I was learning about myself and who I was meant to be in this lifetime. I sort of found myself somewhere between building my vegetable patches, nurturing the land and following the call of my heart.
I yearned to share this space with others who could experience the magic of being close to nature but I didn’t have the bandwidth then to invite people into my space. Opening your personal space, your home, to the outside world is always a bit unnerving. But all that is shifting now.
Our goal here on our small half-acre nature farm and cottage has always been about connecting with nature and cultivating a beautiful life. I have been dreaming and conceptualizing events and experiences for a long while—experiences rooted in outdoor education, creative life skills, and eco-conscious living.
And now, after 7 years of dreaming, we can finally share our space and our philosophy with you.
The idea is to create a moving meditation on urban life versus the natural world and what we are missing in an attempt to live the way we do.
We hosted our First-of-its-Kind, Uniquely Designed and Conceptualized, in-person workshops and nature-based activities at Kalpavriksha Farms, offering our patrons a taste of the same magic, tranquility, and connection that we get to experience as a family!
Keeping with the essence of these offerings, we have aptly titled them:
🌼 “The Enchanted Garden Series”
Because what else is more magical than nature-inspired learning experiences?
🌸 Spring Time Offering: Nature Journaling Workshop
The first one from Kalpavriksha Farms was a Spring Time offering – a Nature Journaling Workshop for adults and children above 8 years. It’s an immersive experience with an infusion of art therapy, mindful observation, and eco-art journaling, in a soothing, serene and mindful indulgence amidst nature. We had an absolutely magical time taking our participants through a joyful, therapeutic, outdoor learning experience.
☀️ Summer Time Offering: Enid Blyton Themed Workshop
The second one from our kitty is a Summer Time offering – an Enid Blyton Themed Workshop for kids aged 8+ years. Just the thing to keep your kids happily engaged during the summer break with creative outdoor activities and screen-free joy.
We witnessed kids lapping up the magic, fun, creativity and connection that we curated for them. They dove into the immersive experiences and got to explore our sustainable farm and old-world cottage, as they lived make-believe lives of the characters from Enid Blyton’s charming stories. This hands-on experience is exactly the kind of experiential learning in nature we’ve always envisioned.
Whether it is reconnecting with nature, learning new life skills for children, or simply unwinding, we strongly believe that children need these wholesome experiences—especially in today’s hyper-mechanised, gadget-based, fast-paced lifestyle.
A soothing, serene and mindful indulgence amidst nature is what we promise to offer. And if you feel like this is something you would like to experience—or offer your kids or students—then join us for a magical outdoor learning retreat in the lap of nature!
We can’t wait to share the magic of Kalpavriksha with you! ✨🌿
