Growing Young Minds Through Our
Teach Farming Initiative

School Connect

At Kalpavriksha Farms, the “School Connect” program brings hands-on farming experiences to students, fostering a deep connection to nature and sustainability. Partnering with schools, we teach soil preparation, seed sowing, and organic farming, celebrating the joy of harvests. Together, we nurture a generation that values sustainable living.

Empowering the Next Generation of Sustainable Farmers

Our School Connect program aims to inspire students to become stewards of the environment, equipping them with the skills to make sustainable choices and lead eco-conscious lives. By teaching organic farming, seasonal crop cultivation, and biodiversity conservation, we’re nurturing a generation that values sustainability, self-sufficiency, and responsible living.

Whether it’s through preparing the soil, celebrating harvests, or understanding ecosystems, our programs at HLC International School and Sai Sankalp Nursery and Primary School empower students to build a better future for themselves and the planet.

Farming at HLC International School

At HLC International School in Chennai, we’ve created a year-long farming program that blends academics with practical, hands-on learning. Our collaboration with HLC spans over six years, a testament to how our shared values align with respect to nature and innovative educational practices.

Key Highlights of the Program:

  1. Soil Preparation and Seed Sowing: Students learn the fundamentals of preparing soil and planting crops, building a strong foundation in organic gardening.
  2. Observing Plant Life Cycles: By observing plant growth and the roles of ecosystems, students gain a first-hand understanding of nature’s interconnected processes.
  3. Celebrating Harvests with Sustainable Cooking: After growing their own produce, students prepare meals from their harvest, fostering an appreciation for sustainable food production.

The program culminates in a joyous Pongal harvest celebration, where students experience the full cycle of food cultivation, from farm to table. This immersive journey instills an enduring connection to the environment and the value of self-sufficiency.

Farming at Sai Sankalp Nursery and Primary School

Our collaboration with Sai Sankalp Nursery and Primary School in Chennai focuses on imparting values-based education for underprivileged communities through sustainable farming practices. This initiative teaches children not just where their food comes from but also how to grow it responsibly and contribute to a healthier planet.

Key Highlights of the Program:

  • Seed Sowing and Plant Care: Students gain hands-on experience in planting, nurturing, and observing organic crops, fostering a deeper connection to the land.
  • Understanding Local and Seasonal Crops: By learning the importance of growing native, seasonal plants, students support sustainable agriculture and promote biodiversity.
  • Appreciating Biodiversity: The program emphasizes the role of insects, soil health, and organic practices in maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

Through this partnership, children not only develop gardening skills but also gain a profound respect for the natural processes that sustain life.
